We’ve known for some time that God of War Ragnarok will be released on November 9, but what’s been made less clear is exactly what time players will be able to start playing the game.
Of course, if you’ve pre-ordered the game you can already start downloading it now, so you can get cracking as soon as it’s available to play.
But what time will that be, exactly? We’ll tell you.
God of War Ragnarok release time
God of War Ragnarok is set to release at midnight, wherever you live.
Specifically, that means when the night of November 8 becomes the morning of November 9, the game will become unlocked.
If you pre-downloaded the game, you should be able to play it at this point.
Because of time zones, this means players in different countries will get to play the game before others.
For example, players in New York will be able to start playing the game five hours before players in London.
This also means players in New Zealand will get to play the game first, but while it’s fairly straightforward for Xbox players to change their region to New Zealand the process is quite convoluted on PlayStation.
It involves having to create a separate New Zealand PlayStation account then buying the game through the New Zealand PlayStation Store.
For many, the extra hassle in doing this (as well as the extra cost, given that players will likely have to top up funds by buying New Zeland PlayStation gift cards) isn’t worth it, just to play a game a few hours earlier than they’re supposed to.
Our advice, then, is to be patient and wait until midnight comes, at which point you’ll be able to enjoy what VGC’s God of War Ragnarok review called one of the best PlayStation games ever.
