Ghost of Tsushima’s Jin Sakai returns in new Yotei DLC
Jin confirmed as a playable character in upcoming survival mode
Ghost of Yotei’s new survival mode will feature Ghost of Tsushima’s Jin Sakai, it’s been revealed.
During a State of Play, Sony and Sucker Punch shared a new look at ‘Most Wanted’, a combat survival mode featuring various playable characters, including Yotei’s Atsu, Nagato, and Oyuki, plus the return of Jin from Tsushima.
Most Wanted is set to release alongside ‘Echoes of Sekigahara’, a new single-player expansion, which is set for release on October 1.
Most Wanted is a roguelike “single-player combat survival mode”, according to Sony. “You’ll accept bounties in order to start new runs, where taking down enemies will earn you perks, as well as unlock additional characters to play as,” it says.
“Just revealed in State of Play, Jin Sakai will be one of our playable characters in Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted! We are so excited to have the hero of Ghost of Tsushima back for this new mode, complete with all four of his signature stances.”
It added on the PlayStation Blog: “Most Wanted is our spin on a roguelike. You’ll choose from four playable characters and accept bounties with escalating difficulty. As you complete runs, you’ll earn perks and upgrades to build out your character, becoming more powerful as you go.
“It was important to us to make Most Wanted feel like an extension of Ghost of Yōtei’s core combat systems. We want playing through runs to take the familiar weapons and systems you’re used to and turn them into a fresh experience that lets you experiment with characters and builds to find the loadout that works best for you.”
Sony’s description for Echoes of Sekigahara reads: “Split between the present day and flashbacks to Atsu’s time on the mainland, you’ll meet Nagato, a figure from Atsu’s past who has arrived in Ezo.
“In the present, you’ll explore a previously unseen valley once inhabited by The Snake and his gang of loyal followers, the Vipers. In the past, you’ll experience Atsu’s time in the Battle of Sekigahara and a key moment in her life before she returned home for her quest for vengeance. You’ll meet new enemies and find new heavy weapons, new armor sets, new dyes, and more.”
VGC’s Ghost of Yotei review calls it a “touching samurai epic”, saying: “Ghost of Yotei fufills much of the promise of Ghost of Tsushima, delivering a hugely enjoyable open-world game, that almost rids itself of Tsushima’s bloat.”
