Frontier has announced Planet Coaster 2 for release this year
The sequel to the 2016 theme park sim is coming to consoles and PC
Frontier has announced Planet Coaster 2, the sequel to its 2016 theme park sim.
Releasing in autumn 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, Planet Coaster 2 will introduce several new features including new water attractions.
“Make a splash with guests as they float along lazy rivers, speed down flumes, plunge into wave pools, and ride exhilarating water coasters,” reads an official synopsis. “Create an authentic water park experience by providing changing rooms, sunbeds, lifeguards, and more.”
The sequel will also attempt to push player creativity, with enhanced building and pathing tools, piece-by-piece building tools and new themes. Players will also be able to customise rides for the first time.
“Players can further unleash their imagination and create unforgettable memories for their guests by using the enhanced event sequencer tool, combining animatronics, smoke, water jets, sound, and more in dazzling displays throughout individual rides and across their parks,” Frontier says.
Planet Coaster 2 will feature three modes; Career mode, Franchise mode, and Sandbox mode.
“Protect guests from the sun, keep pools sparking clean, ensure rides are running safely, and preside over the inner workings of each park with the help of handy heatmaps, new facilities, and more,” Frontier says.
Finally, Frontier announced several online options. Players will be able to visit others’ parks to test out their rides, compete in Franchise mode leaderboards, and jump one-at-a-time into a shared Sandbox level to build together across platforms.
Players can also share and download blueprints and full parks across platforms via the Frontier Workshop.
