Simply titled Forza Motorsport at the moment, the game was shown off in a lengthy gameplay trailer, which Xbox claimed was all running in real-time in 4K.
He also confirmed that he game had been “built from the ground up” for Xbox Series X and S, confirming that it will be current-gen only.
The trailer showed the returning Maple Valley track, as well as Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and Laguna Seca Raceway. It also showed off two new tracks – Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in South Africa, and Circuit Hakone in Japan.
During the gameplay presentation, creative director Chris Esaki said: “We’ve completely overhauled the driving experience. This includes a 48x improvement in the fidelity of our physics simulation.”
The game will make use of advanced rendering and procedural generation techniques, and will also feature a new ‘dynamic time of day’ system, which can be applied to every track (as can weather effects).
According to Turn10, changes in the time of day alter have an impact on the track surface temperatures, which in turn affects car grip.
Showing the game’s new damage model, Esaki said: “In Forza Motorsport, car damage is reproduced down to the individual scratches on the bodywork.
“You can see here some of the new details in the directionality of damage, how the paint peels away at exposed and raised edges, in the wheel abrasions, and even in the dirt buildup.”
