The second major expansion for Forza Horizon 5 is being revealed this week, it’s been confirmed.
The stream will take place on Thursday, February 23 at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm GMT.
“The next big thing from the Horizon Festival in Mexico is ready to be revealed,” the tweet reads. “Tune in this Thursday for all the details.”
The game’s first expansion was titled Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels, and was released in July 2022. As the name implies, the expansion featured a new open world area themed on the Hot Wheels toy franchise, and included 10 new cars, including the 2021 Hennessey Venom F5 and 2000 Hot Wheels Deora II.
The expansion also lets players design, build, and share their own Hot Wheels tracks, with 80 track piece types to choose from.
If Playground Games follows previous convention, the upcoming second expansion will be the last, since Forza Horizon 2, 3 and 4 all had two expansions.
Forza Horizon 2 got an expansion called Storm Island, followed by a Porsche expansion which added the German manufacturer’s cars to the series for the first time (EA owned the Porsche licence at that point and gave permission for its use).
Forza Horizon 3’s first expansion was the hazardous Blizzard Mountain, which was followed by a Hot Wheels expansion. Meanwhile, Forza Horizon 4 got a new map called Fortune Island followed by a Lego-themed expansion called Lego Speed Champions.
Forza Horizon 5 has an Expansion Bundle available on the Xbox Store, which “includes two game expansions when they become available. Each expansion will introduce a new location, vehicles and gameplay.”
VGC’s Forza Horizon 5 review called the racer “the first essential game of the generation”.
“This is the best Forza Horizon has ever been,” our review read. “Because of this, it’s among the best the racing genre has ever seen, and – as its predecessor accomplished before it – it’s easily one of the best games this generation has seen so far.”
