Fortnite goes offline following Galactus live event as Epic readies Season 5’s launch
New season debuts on Wednesday alongside a Fortnite subscription plan
Fortnite is currently offline as Epic Games prepares to launch Chapter 2 – Season 5 of the battle royale game on December 2.
The game recently wrapped up its Marvel-themed Chapter 2 – Season 4 with a fight against planet consumer Galactus in a live Nexus War finale event which kicked off at 4pm ET/1pm PT/9pm UK on Tuesday.
As shown in the video below, the event saw players start on the Avengers‘ Helicarrier aircraft before it was struck down by Galactus, who was on a mission to eat the Zero Point.
Players then received a life-saving jetpack from Iron Man, before the super hero instructed them to pilot explosive-filled battle bus clones equipped with laser cannons into the mouth of Galactus in order to open a portal and send him “back where he came from”.
UPDATE 02/12/20: Epic has launched Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 5, starring The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda.
ORIGINAL STORY CONTINUES: Epic will launch a $12 monthly Fortnite subscription service alongside Chapter 2 – Season 5 on Wednesday.
In addition to the current season’s Battle Pass, each month Fortnite Crew subscribers will receive 1,000 V-Bucks and a DLC pack featuring exclusive outfits and accessories.
Epic is also replacing the Battle Bundle with a bundle of 25 levels, available to players at level 75 or lower at any time, once per season, for 1,850 V-Bucks.
