First Super Mario RPG review published in Famitsu
The Japanese publication says the game’s new features makes it easier to play
The first Super Mario RPG reveiw has been published in Japanese magazine Famitsu.
According to Ryokutya2089, Famitsu’s team of four reviewers gave the Switch RPG a combined score of 34/40 (10, 8, 8 and 8), praising its new quality-of-life features.
The review reportedly says the game’s graphics are richer and make the game look more exciting.

“Switch’s Mario RPG feels like a love letter to the original game. Fans of the 1996 version will be delighted by the care that’s gone into recreating the SNES title scene-for-scene. For everyone else, this remains a charming RPG adventure well worth discovering.”

It also says the addition of new triple moves – which use all three characters in the player’s party – add new tactics and a “constant sense of tension”.
The addition of “useful” new features is credited with making the game easier to play overall, but the review reportedly says the game still has “a nostalgic feel” and is a “timeless masterpiece that will make anyone happy”.
“Originally released on Super NES, Super Mario RPG has been overhauled with new graphics,” according to Nintendo.
The original game’s co-director Chihiro Fujioka has said he’s not involved in the new version, but that he’s delighted that Nintendo is remaking the game.
