First came the Xbox Fridge, now here’s the Series S Suitcase
Xbox Australia and New Zealand is giving one away, but they sadly aren’t for sale
Xbox has created another promotional item designed to look like one of its consoles, and this time it’s a suitcase.
A collaboration between Xbox Australia & New Zealand and luggage company July, the Xbox Series S suitcase looks like the console, right down to the black circular vent on the side.
The suitcase was sent to a number of Australian influencers to promote today’s console release of Microsoft Flight Simulator.
However, the company is also giving one away in a Twitter competition (open to people from Australia and New Zealand only).
The suitcases also come with an Xbox Series S and controller included. The ones sent to influencers also had their Gamertags printed on the back.
This isn’t the first time Microsoft has created a promotional item shaped like one of its consoles.
The company made real, house-sized Series X refrigerators and sent them to influencers last year, including YouTuber iJustine and rapper Snoop Dogg.
The promotional items, which were based on a popular meme, function exactly as a normal fridge would but with an Xbox Series X design, complete with boot-up music upon opening its door.
Xbox then teamed up with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to send influencers real Xbox Series X mini-fridges, in a stunt designed to promote the actor’s new energy drink brand.
Xbox initially said it would not make the fridges generally available, but it changed its mind after Xbox won a Twitter poll for the most popular brand.
The highly sought-after Xbox Fridge was the final announcement of Microsoft and Bethesda’s E3 Showcase last month, confirming that they will be available to purchase this holiday season.
The Series S suitcase, however, will not be made available to buy, at least for now.
