Final Fantasy 7 news will be shared next month, Remake director reveals
Square Enix recently suggested it would release new games this year, with a FF16 trailer also coming soon
Square Enix will make announcements regarding the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7 next month.
That’s according to director Tetsuya Nomura, who shared the news during a Japanese live stream focused on the mobile battle royale Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier on Wednesday.
It’s possible June’s announcements could include the reveal of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, since Square Enix has previously indicated that it would like to share details on the sequel during this anniversary year.

2022 is not only a milestone year for Final Fantasy VII, but also the series itself, and publisher Square Enix recently said it intends to release several new games this year but that its plans are centred around its most high-profile franchise.
Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida has also said that a new trailer for that game will be released soon.
Few details have been revealed on FF7 Remake Part 2 so far, other than confirmation last year that Naoki Hamaguchi, the co-director of FF7 Remake Part 1, will take over full directing duties for the follow up as Tetsuya Nomura takes on a broader creative director position.
Nomura has also said that, compared to last year’s Intergrade re-release, that Part 2 will make more use of PlayStation 5’s unique hardware features.
Square Enix recently launched a Final Fantasy 35th anniversary site, which is teasing that news of future games is on the way.
“In this 35th anniversary year, we will be bringing you many exciting new ways to enjoy the worlds of Final Fantasy”, the site says.

Final Fantasy XIV was the star performer during Square Enix’s fiscal year ended March 31, 2022, the company announced on Friday.
Boosted by launch of the game’s Endwalker expansion in December, sales of the MMO helped to offset a decline in the company’s ‘HD Games’ segment, where titles like Outriders and Guardians of the Galaxy failed to meet expectations.
