FIFA 23 enjoys ‘record-breaking launch’ with 10.3 million players in first week
Last year’s series entry attracted 9.1 million players in 10 days
Electronic Arts claims FIFA 23 enjoyed a record-breaking launch for the franchise in terms of first week player numbers.
FIFA 23 attracted over 10.3 million players in its first week of availability, the company said on Wednesday.
In comparison, a similar press release announcing last year’s “record-breaking FIFA 22 launch” said 9.1 million players had joined the game in the 10 days since its release.

“The response from our fans has been nothing short of incredible, and we’re thrilled that our community is playing with their favourite players and teams across FIFA 23 in record numbers,” said EA Sports general manager Nick Wlodyka.
“With both the Men’s and Women’s World Cups, and exciting updates to our women’s club football content in game still yet to come, we’re just getting started on providing players with the most authentic and immersive experience yet.”
VGC’s 4/5 FIFA 23 review concluded: “EA improves on its predecessor for the umpteenth time, once again delivering the best football game around. The new power shots, the revamped set piece system and women’s club teams are welcome, but anyone expecting big changes will want to hope EA Sports FC 24 delivers.”
The first FIFA 23 patch was released last week, making changes to the game’s penalty system and dribbling animations.
