FIFA 20 was Europe’s best-selling boxed game in 2019
EA’s football series tops the rankings for the third year running
FIFA 20 was the best-selling boxed game in Europe in 2019.
That’s according to information published on Thursday by official charts and market research data supplier GfK Entertainment.
“A cross-platform special analysis conducted for 15 countries” saw EA’s football series top Europe’s physical software sales chart for the third year running, following in the footsteps of FIFA 19 and FIFA 18.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare came in second place, ahead of Switch exclusive Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
GfK’s 2019 sales chart was compiled using data from the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The research firm previously said FIFA 19 and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe were Europe’s best-selling physical games in the first half of 2019.
FIFA 20, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe were also the best-selling boxed console games of 2019 in the UK, while Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Red Dead Redemption 2 completed the top five.
UK video game software sales declined last year for the first time since 2012, driven by a 21.7% fall in physical game sales.
