The sequel to Xbox Series X/S launch title The Falconeer is coming to consoles.
All versions will be released in 2024, but there’s no set release date yet.
Developed again by solo developer Tomas Sala, Bulwark is the spiritual sequel to The Falconeer, which was an award-winning aerial combat game released on Xbox Series X/S in 2020, and other consoles in 2021.
While the first game was solely focused on aerial combat, Bulwark also has a city building element.
“Creating a fortress is one thing, but for players to grow their empire and influence across The Great Ursee they’ll need to immerse themselves in the game’s distinct minimalist brand of strategy that feels just as intuitive on a gamepad than it does on mouse and keyboard as they as they establish trade routes, manage resources, forge alliances, and embark on military conquest,” the game’s description reads.
In a statement about the game’s console announcement, Sala said: “Developing for console means you need to create a game that is controlled like an instrument, without looking at what you’re doing, intuitively from your fingers straight into the gameworld, which is honestly what I love to do – putting you, the gamer, into a world with as few layers between you and whatever you are experiencing.”
Sala found his first success when he made a Skyrim mod called Moonpath to Elsweyr. The positive response to the mod encouraged him to start work on a solo project, which over time would become The Falconeer.
