EA Sports UFC 5 announced, full reveal coming in September

EA has announced EA UFC 5.

The follow-up to 2020’s MMA game will be revealed in full in September.

EA has also launched a website where fans can sign up for more information about the upcoming game. It’s currently unknown what platforms the game will be released on.

It was reported in 2021 that the game was originally planned for late 2022. It was also reported at the time that EA was working on a revival of the Fight Night boxing video game franchise, however, work on UFC 5 caused that to stop.

In a studio-wide email, EA Canada told staff that its focus would be on EA Sports UFC 5 for the foreseeable future. “We’re very excited about UFC 5 and… we want to eliminate the split focus that several members of our leadership team have had over the past while so we can solely focus on delivering migration and UFC 5 at high quality,” it read.

EA was originally approached to develop a game based on the UFC in 2008, however, it turned the offer down, causing the UFC to turn to THQ, which released three successful UFC titles in a short period of time.

Following the success of those titles, EA released EA MMA, a partnership with UFC’s rival promotion at the time, Strikeforce. EA would then sign a multi-year deal with the UFC following the collapse of THQ. The first EA UFC title was released in 2014.
