EA Sports FC 24 comes out on top during Black Friday week in the UK physical charts
UK physical game sales were slightly higher this year than during last year’s Black Friday
EA Sports FC 24 topped the UK physical game charts this week, coming on top after the Black Friday dust has settled.
As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, EA‘s football game climbed back up from third place to first.
This was partly due to Black Friday deals, with numerous UK retailers selling EA Sports FC 24 for up to 50% off its standard price.
This led to a 101% increase in sales for the game, pushing it back up to the top of the charts and forcing last week’s number one game, Hogwarts Legacy, down to the number 2 spot.
According to GI.biz’s report, UK physical sales in the UK during the Black Friday period were up 7% compared to the same period in 2022.
Elsewhere in the charts, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 slipped down from 2 to 3, while Super Mario Bros Wonder climbed from 5 to 4.
The Black Friday sales also saw a return to the top 10 from some games that had previously dropped out. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe rose from 11th to 6th, presumably due to numerous customers buying Switch consoles including a new Switch OLED bundle that included the game.
One of the bigger beneficiaries of Black Friday sales was Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which leapt up from number 32 to number 10.
As ever, it should be noted that these are physical game charts, meaning digital sales aren’t taken into account.
Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo all held large-scale Black Friday sales on their own digital storefronts, but none of the games bought there count towards these charts.
