Electronic Arts is raising the price of its EA Play subscription service.

As first reported by GamesIndustry.biz, the standard EA Play tier is rising from $4.99 / £3.99 per month to $5.99 / £5.99, with the annual fee increasing from $29.99 / £19.99 to $39.99 / £35.99.

The price of a monthly EA Play Pro subscription is increasing from $14.99 / £14.99 to $16.99 / £16.99, with the annual membership rising from $99.99 / £89.99 to $119.99 / £109.99.

An email is reportedly being rolled out to subscribers in the coming days with the news, and the new prices are already live on the service’s website.

For existing customers, the new prices come into effect on May 10. EA Play is the publisher’s subscription service that offers catalogue titles as well as 10-hour trials of new EA titles.

A PC-exclusive tier of the service gives players access to the publisher’s full catalogue, including new titles on the day they are released elsewhere. A basic version of the service is also included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Last year, Sony raised the price of its PlayStation Plus Subscription service by up to 35%.

The move saw the cost of 12-month subscription plans for the service’s Essential, Extra and Premium tiers rise by $20-$40 / £10-£20 / €12-€32 depending on the chosen membership plan.

Microsoft also raised prices for its rival subscription service, Game Pass, in July 2023, although the increases were relatively small.

The monthly price of a Game Pass console subscription rose from $9.99 to $10.99 (£7.99 to £8.99 / €9.99 to €10.99), while the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate price increased from $14.99 per month to $16.99 (£10.99 to £12.99 / €12.99 to €14.99).
