Dreams Early Access release date and price confirmed
Get creative with Media Molecule’s new game from April 16
Media Molecule has announced a Dreams Early Access release date of Tuesday April 16, 2019 on PS4.
Priced at $29.99/CAD$39.99/£24.99/€29.99, Dreams Early Access will receive a “limited” release as a PlayStation Store download initially available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and all European territories. There’s no option to pre-order it.
“Dreams Early Access is limited yes, but it’s a big limit,” Media Molecule studio director Siobhan Reddy said in a PlayStation Blog post. “That being said, to avoid disappointment, we do recommend you purchase as soon as you can to enjoy all of the creator tools available.”
She added: “It won’t feature everything that the full release will have (our story mode being a big piece of that) but you’ll get our full tool set for creating, our interactive tutorials and arcade games, templates and additional content created by Media Molecule and access to what you, the Community, made during our Dreams Creator Beta. You’ll also be getting the first hands-on with new features and content as we add them.”
Reddy also confirmed that creations will carry over to the full game, which Early Access purchasers will receive when it’s released, although she didn’t share any new information on when that might be.
During her BAFTA Games Lecture in August 2018, Reddy said that democratising technology is key to inspiring a new generation of game developers and elevating the art form to the next level: “We believe that making games should have the same accessibility as using a camera, a guitar or a pencil, something that you can start just by picking it up.”
The Dream Early Access trailer below describes the game as “a platform where you can create anything you can imagine, then share it with the world using just your PS4”.
