The beta, which is open this weekend for players who’ve pre-ordered, and next weekend for everyone, opened to queues of several hours from some players.
Players also reported that once they were able to get into the game, crashes and the inability to connect with friends in order to play together dogged the experience.
Now, Diablo’s community manager has acknowledged this and thanked players for their patience.
In a post to the Blizzard forums, Adam Fletcher wrote: “The team is working through some issues behind the scenes that have been affecting players and causing them to be disconnected from the servers. For the time being, we are managing the rate of players entering the game until we have a full fix for the disconnection issues.”
He continued: “We are actively working on these issues for this weekend. Once these are resolved we will be able to increase the influx of players and queue times will be significantly reduced.”
Fletcher later provided a list of issues that Blizzard is currently tracking and hopes to resolve shortly, theses include:
- Players are sometimes unable to join a party with other players while in-game.
- Players that are dropped from a game receive an error that their party does not exist.
- Rubberbanding occurring with players while transitioning between zones.
- High RAM and GPU usage occurring on select hardware.
Diablo 4’s beta runs from March 17 until March 19 for players who have pre-ordered the game. Those who haven’t will get a chance to experience the beta from March 24 until March 26.
The beta has no time limit, and players can progress until level 25, with almost all of the game’s first act included.
Rod Fergusson, general manager of the Diablo franchise at Blizzard, recently took to Twitter to state that the game isn’t planned for Xbox Game Pass, as Microsoft‘s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard rumbles on.
