Destiny 2’s Season of the Haunted has been revealed and it’s out today
In addition to the new story content, the Solar subclass is receiving an update
Destiny 2’s newest season, the Season of the Haunted has been detailed in a new trailer released by Bungie.
The season, which will run from May 24 until August 23 includes a new battle pass, which is priced at $ 9.99 / £9.99 and will provide 100 levels of new cosmetics, weapons and engrams.
A smaller pool of rewards is available to players who don’t purchase the season pass, however, they won’t be able to access the new seasonal story missions.
The new trailer, which you can view below shows off several of the locations and unique pieces of gear that players can earn during the course of the season.
In addition to the new story content, the Solar subclass is receiving an update which will be free for everyone, not just season pass holders.
Solar 3.0 imbues each class with new flame-based abilities, however, it’s unclear if players will have to engage with a certain event during the new season to unlock this expanded skillset.
Players can also explore deeper into the Leviathan, during which they’ll find out the “truth behind Calus’s sinister plan” according to Bungie. Calus, who was the final boss of the sequel’s first-ever raid, is featured heavily across the season.
Sony announced in January that it intends to purchase Halo and Destiny creator Bungie in a deal worth $3.6 billion. It said at the time that Bungie will be “an independent subsidiary” and remain a multiplatform studio following the acquisition.
Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida has said the company’s planned acquisition of Bungie is partly motivated by a desire for PlayStation to become more of a multiplatform business.
