Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster announced

Capcom has announced Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

The game was revealed via a teaser trailer, which is viewable below.

“Coming to the newest generation of platforms,” it’s billed as “an updated release with a brand new look.”

Developed by Capcom Japan and produced by Keiji Inafune, the original Dead Rising was released in 2006. It received an HD remaster for modern platforms in 2016.

The game stars protagonist Frank West, a photojournalist who gets trapped in a zombie infested shopping mall in the fictional town of Willamette, Colorado.

Dead Rising has received several sequels, the first of which was developed by Blue Castle Games. The studio was acquired and renamed Capcom Vancouver in 2010 following the completion of Dead Rising 2.

Capcom Vancouver also developed 2011’s Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, 2013’s Dead Rising 3, which was published by Microsoft as an Xbox One launch title, and 2016’s Dead Rising 4.

Capcom announced plans to close the studio and cancel its in development projects in September 2018.

The Dead Rising franchise has sold 16 million units as of March 2024.

“This zombie action series challenges players to fend off hordes of zombies by any means necessary and uncover the truth behind the horrific incident that started the zombie outbreak,” according to Capcom.

“Since the first release in August 2006, the series has become highly successful due to its outstanding action and humorous universe.”
