The spin-off of the mainline Darksiders action adventure series is in development at Battle Chasers: Nightwar studio Airship Syndicate.
It’ll see players taking on the role of a new Horseman of the Apocalypse, Strife, IGN reports. THQ says Genesis will feature “intense combat, exploration, puzzle-solving, epic boss battles and serpent holes from heaven to hell”.
Amazon product listings for the game also reveal the following details:
- War and Strife have been given a new assignment
- Lucifer has been plotting to grant power to master demons throughout Hell
- War and Strife must hunt down these masters
- Fight your way through a tangled, demonic conspiracy that threatens to forever upset the Balance and unravel all of creation
Darksiders was created by now defunct studio Vigil Games, with the first title in the series released in 2010. It was acquired by Nordic Games (now THQ Nordic) in 2013 following the bankruptcy of THQ.
The series take place on a post-apocalyptic Earth, where and angels and demons battle for control of the world. The most recent franchise entry, Darksiders 3, was developed by Gunfire Games and released in November 2018.
