During an interview at Tokyo Game Show, level designer Max Pears told VGC the studio has spent a lengthy period researching Cyberpunk 2077’s post-launch multiplayer so that the mode will fit with the lore of the game.
CD Projekt Red recently confirmed it will add a multiplayer mode to Cyberpunk 2077 after the game’s April 2020 release, in addition to free DLC and new single-player content.
The studio’s last game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, received two significant expansions promising an additional 30 hours of gameplay.
in June, CD Projekt Red UI coordinator Alvin Liu hinted at plans to expand the world of Cyberpunk 2077 post-release with the launch of Witcher-style expansions.
And Pears told VGC this month: “We’ve learnt a lot from Witcher 3 and how that DLC worked. We’ve learnt from that and that is the strategy for how we’ll apply DLC to Cyberpunk as well. We’ll look to take what we’ve learnt from Witcher 3 and apply that.”
He also said: “With Witcher 3 the game got better with quality of life updates for the community as well, like how we improved the UI and things like that.”
