Concord’s monetised content will be exclusively cosmetic, Firewalk says

Concord’s developer Firewalk Studios says the game’s monetisation will exclusively focues on cosmetic items.

“We’re going to launch with our 16 characters, 12 maps, and 6 modes,” Concord‘s director of IP Kim Kreines told VGC.

“That’s all included when you buy the game, and seasonally we’re providing new maps, new modes, and new characters, alongside their unfolding story.”

“There are purely cosmetic pieces that you can choose to further customize the look of your character, that you can choose to purchase. Those do not affect gameplay. We believe so strongly that the full experience should be available to all of our players.”

Concord will cost $40 / £35 at release. The debut title from PlayStation’s Firewalk Studios will be released for PS5 and PC on August 23.

Concord is a 5v5 team-based shooter, where players compete as ‘freegunners’ and have to take on opposing teams.

VGC recently got the chance to play three hours of Concord. In our preview, we praised the game’s gunplay, and unique delivery method for story in a live service game.

In the same interview with VGC, the team behind Concord addressed the negative reaction to the game’s reveal trailer.

“Yeah, that trailer,” Kreines reflected. “That moment is such a tiny slice of everything that we’ve been working on for years and years. We’re excited for the game and for the IP, and for the game to be in people’s hands.
