Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a new turn-based RPG inspired by French art
It’s coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC in 2025
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a “reactive turn-based RPG inspired by the lavish art and culture of France’s Belle Époque”, has been revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2024.
It tells the story of Gustave and his expedition that sets out to defeat the Paintress: an unknown enemy threatening to wipe out humanity.
It’s the debut title of Sandfall Interactive, a studio founded in France in 2020. Set to be published by Kepler Interactive, it’s slated to release in 2025 on Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam.
The reveal trailer confirmed it will also release on PS5, and will be included in Xbox Game Pass on day one.
“Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is an upcoming reactive turn-based RPG that will transport you to a beautiful, surrealist new world inspired by France’s La Belle Epoque – a period famous for its stunning and lavish contributions to the country’s world-renowned culture of art,” Xbox’s official description reads.
“As a member of the Expeditioners, who are embarking on an impossible quest to end the Paintress’ cycle of death, you’ll journey through a vast and beautiful fantasy world where you’ll battle deadly adversaries, befriend fabled creatures, and discover traces of those who came before.”
