Call of Duty Black Ops 7’s Endgame mode is being detached from the game’s widely-panned campaign

Treyarch has announced that it is separating Call of Duty Black Ops 7’s Endgame mode from the game’s much-criticised campaign.

Endgame, which is currently unlocked by completing the campaign, sees 32 players attempt to complete a series of shorter objectives within a set time limit, before exfiltrating from the map.

This mode has been widely praised by players who’ve reached it, but the requirement of completing the campaign to unlock it has seemingly been a roadblock to most of the audience playing it.

Treyarch has also announced that players who complete the campaign by Friday will be awarded in-game bonuses across the game’s other modes.

These awards are:

  • 3x 1-Hour Double Level XP Tokens
  • 3x 1-Hour Double Weapon XP Tokens
  • 3x 1-Hour Double Battle Pass XP Tokens
  • 3x Perkaholic GobbleGums

VGC’s 3-star review of Call of Duty Black Ops 6 called the game’s campaign “baffling, turgid and ridiculous,” but praised the game’s multiplayer suite.

“In contrast to the “throw everything at the wall and nothing sticks but you accidentally smash 10 windows” approach of the campaign, this is virtually the Platonic ideal of Call of Duty multiplayer.

“There are small bugs to be smoothed out, and the alleged use of AI on some in-game graphics is a total stain, but when it comes to gunplay, maps, modes, and streaks, it’s very difficult to find fault.”
