Battlenet down fix: Authentication error leaves Diablo 4 and more unplayable
Blizzard says it’s currently investigating the issue, which is affecting World of Warcraft and Overwatch
Battlenet is currently down for some players, meaning PC games such as Diablo 4 and Warzone 2 are unplayable.
Blizzard said on Thursday it was investigating the outages, which are said to be related to its authentication servers, which have made it impossible for some users to log in.
“We apologise once again for the inconvenience caused by today’s outages, we’re working to resolve this ASAP,” it said. “We’re currently investigating an issue affecting our authentication servers, which may result in failed or slow login attempts.”
According to website DownDetector, the server issues started at around 1am PT / 9am BST, with users reporting a spike in issues on Battlenet games such as Overwatch 2, Diablo 4 and World of Warcraft.
However, there is one potential fix for the Battlenet issues. Some users have reported that changing their login region has fixed the problem and allowed them to log in to play games.
Blizzard recently announced Diablo 4’s second season. Titled Season of Blood, it’s set to be released on October 17.
“Season of Blood will introduce a new Questline for you to uncover, Vampiric Powers to wield against their originators, 5 additional endgame bosses with the ability to target specific Unique and Uber Unique items as a drop, and more,” Blizzard said.
