Battlefield 6 promises ‘epic battles at a scale and fidelity unlike anything experienced before’
EA teases next-gen games from DICE, BioWare, Criterion and Motive
EA has said it expects Battlefield 6 to raise the bar when it releases for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 in 2021.
A video featuring work in progress material (timestamped, below) was shown during the EA Play Live event on Thursday.
“For every console generation, DICE sets the bar for excellence in audio and visual presentation,” said EA chief studios officer Laura Miele in the video. “We are creating epic battles at a scale and fidelity unlike anything you’ve experienced before.”
EA recently said the Battlefield 6 release date will fall in calendar year 2021.
Last October, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said the publisher intended to release Battlefield 6 in the window to take advantage of a bigger installed base for next-gen consoles, rather than launching early in their lifecycle.
Electronic Arts will reportedly release a remastered version of Battlefield 3 alongside the next mainline entry in DICE’s FPS series.
That’s according to content creator Daqarie, who previously leaked a significant number of Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5 details which turned out to be accurate.
Thursday’s EA Play Live was also used to tease new fantasy worlds from BioWare as well as Criterion’s next-gen Need for Speed, which will offer “a seamless immersion which gets you into the race in a matter of seconds”.
And Miele said Star Wars Squadrons developer Motive Studios is working “on a highly ambitious and innovative new game that puts the power and creativity in your hands”.
Among other announcements, EA confirmed plans to release FIFA 21 in October, revealed that Skate 4 is in development, and said Apex Legends will get cross-play support and be released for Nintendo Switch and Steam.
