A Battlefield 3 remaster will reportedly release alongside Battlefield 6

Electronic Arts will reportedly release a remastered version of Battlefield 3 alongside the next mainline entry in DICE’s FPS series.

That’s according to content creator Daqarie, who previously leaked a significant number of Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5 details which turned out to be accurate.

The channel claims the Battlefield 3 remaster will come with all of the DLC packs that followed the original game’s 2011 release, including Back to Karkand, Close Quarters, Armored Kill, Aftermath and End Game.

It’s claimed the remaster has been “in the pipeline for a very long time” and that DICE informed prominent Battlefield YouTubers of its plans around the release of Battlefield V in November 2018, with a view to them publishing an ‘abnormal’ amount of Battlefield 3 content on their channels in a bid to gauge interest in the project.

The Battlefield 3 remaster will reportedly be supported with cosmetic customisation options. Battlefield V lets players earn cosmetics through play or unlock them using real-world money.

Daqarie claims the Battlefield 3 remaster and next mainline Battlefield game will launch for PS5, Xbox Series X and PC. Publisher EA has implied that the Battlefield 6 release date will fall in calendar year 2021.

DICE released Battlefield 5’s final major content update on June 4. It included two new maps, nine additional weapons, six extra vehicles, five fresh gadgets, and three new grenade types.

Following 2016 release Battlefield 1, Battlefield 5 was the second consecutive series entry to focus on the World Wars of the early 20th century. According to Daqarie, Battlefield 6 will centre on modern day military combat, as did Battlefield 3 and 2013’s Battlefield 4.

It’s suggested EA will start teasing the Battlefield 3 remaster at its delayed EA Play Live showcase on June 18, which promises to deliver “world premieres, news and more”.
