Battlefield 2042 is free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers this weekend

Battlefield 2042 is available to play free of charge for Xbox Live Gold subscribers this weekend.

Along with action-adventure game The Sinking City and rogue-lite strategy RPG Star Renegades, EA’s shooter is one of three titles included in Xbox’s latest Free Play Days promotion.

Available to Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members, Free Play Days lets subscribers try out the full versions of selected games at no additional charge.

The first of January 2022’s Xbox Live Games with Gold titles, NeuroVoider and Radiant Silvergun, are now available for members to download too.

They’ll be followed by Aground and Space Invaders Infinity Gene later this month.

• Aground (January 16 to February 15)
• NeuroVoider (January 1 to January 31)
• Radiant Silvergun (January 1 to January 15)
• Space Invaders Infinity Gene (January 16 to January 31)

One of December’s Xbox Live Games with Gold titles, Tropico 5 Penultimate Edition, is also still available to claim until January 15.

The first wave of titles coming to Xbox Game Pass for console, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming in January hit the service this week, including Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, Outer Wilds, The Pedestrian, Gorogoa and Embr.

They’ll be followed by Spelunky 2 and The Anacrusis on January 13, Nobody Saves the World on January 18, and Rainbow Six Extraction and Rainbow Six Siege on January 20.
