As Switch 2 prices are set to increase next month, Nintendo has now confirmed the new UK price

Nintendo has officially confirmed the new price of a Switch 2 console in the UK, as of next month.

The company confirmed back in May that it was raising the price of Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan, but only gave a selection of the new prices.

In Japan the price increase already took place on May 25, and saw all of Nintendo‘s hardware increasing by around ¥10,000 ($63).

Other regions will see the increase starting from September 1, with Nintendo previously confirming that Switch 2 hardware will increase from $449.99 to $499.99 in the US, an increase of $50.

Similarly, in Canada the price will increase $50 from $629.99 to $679.99, while in Europe the price will increase by €30 from €469.99 to €499.99

Now, in a statement posted on the official X account for the Nintendo Store UK, Nintendo has confirmed that the UK price of Switch 2 will increase by £24, from £395.99 to £419.99.

While announcing its increases in May, Nintendo said: “In light of changes in market conditions, and after considering the global business outlook, Nintendo will revise the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) of the Nintendo Switch 2 system and Nintendo Switch systems.

“We sincerely apologize for the impact these price revisions may have on our customers and other stakeholders, and we deeply appreciate your understanding.”

Although the company has resisted market pressure to date, price increases for Nintendo’s hardware have long been expected. Notably, the price of RAM has significantly increased over the last year, which is mainly attributed to AI data centres.

The global economic situation has piled further pressure on game console manufacturers, which historically have reduced prices over time. Sony and Microsoft have raised the price of their PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S hardware numerous times this generation, whereas at this stage in the PlayStation 4‘s lifecycle the console retailed for as little as $200 in places.
