Animal Crossing will get its own themed Nintendo Switch console
Special themed hardware to release a week before New Horizons
Nintendo has announced a special Animal Crossing themed Nintendo Switch for release in North America, and Japan.
The console features unique Joy-Con controllers, a custom design on the back, and a special Nintendo Switch dock. It will release one week ahead of Switch instalment New Horizons on March 13 for $299.99.
An Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aloha Edition Carrying Case & Screen Protector will also be available for purchase on March 13.
The console has not yet been announced for Europe, but given the late hour of the North America and Japan announcement, it’s possible Nintendo of Europe will announce its own plans in the working hours.
Update: The Animal Crossing themed Nintendo Switch, carrying case and screen protector will launch in European stores alongside the game on March 20.
Original story continues: Nintendo recently kicked off its marketing campaign for the Switch exclusive, with a debut television spot featuring character Tom Nook giving a presentation on his company’s new deserted island package.
New Horizons will release on March 20. The game was originally scheduled for 2019, but it was delayed partly to avoid an unhealthy crunch period for the game’s developers, according to Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser.
The most recent New Horizons trailer showed off idyllic island life during Nintendo’s E3 2019 briefing.
In-between crafting items, planting flowers, and sitting by a roaring campfire, the islanders were seen sat by the ocean’s edge, watching the waves.
