Amazon is turning its boxes into question mark blocks to promote the Mario movie

Amazon has turned some of its delivery boxes into question mark blocks to promote the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Ahead of the film’s release, shoppers have started receiving Amazon packages (pictured below) designed to resemble the mystery blocks, which are a recurring item in the Mario series that reward players with prizes when hit.

Universal Pictures recently announced that the Mario film’s release date had been brought forward to April 5 in over 60 markets, including the US and the UK.

Nintendo and Illumination released the first trailer for Mario Bros. movie in October, giving fans the chance to hear Chris Pratt as the voice of Mario for the first time.

This was followed by a second trailer in November, which revealed the voices of Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Luigi (Charlie Day). It also showed a racing scene inspired by Mario Kart.

A Nintendo Direct presentation themed around the movie aired this month. It featured the film’s third trailer, which included more footage of the Rainbow Road section, a Luma from Super Mario Galaxy, and Donkey Kong getting a Fire Flower and gaining its powers.

Illumination also released the following synopsis for the movie.

“While working underground to fix a water main, Brooklyn plumbers Mario (Chris Pratt; Jurassic World and The Lego Movie franchises) and brother Luigi (Charlie Day; It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) are transported down a mysterious pipe and wander into a magical new world. But when the brothers are separated, Mario embarks on an epic quest to find Luigi.

“With the assistance of a Mushroom Kingdom resident Toad (Keegan-Michael Key; The Lion King) and some training from the strong-willed ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy;The Queen’s Gambit), Mario taps into his own power.”
