Activision has established a new internal studio “dedicated to developing the best AAA mobile games in the world”, starting with a new entry in the Call of Duty series.

According to a number of job listings on the company’s careers website, Activision Mobile is “a new in-house studio”.

The company says: “Our first project is a new AAA mobile title in the Call of Duty franchise and we’re looking for great talent from mobile, console and PC backgrounds passionate about their work, who share our belief in what AAA experiences on mobile can and should be.

“We’re incredibly excited to build out our teams and get to work, and invite you to join us in making something special.”

Activision Mobile has yet to be officially announced.

UPDATE 04/08/2021: Activision has officially announced the formation on an internal mobile studio, which is currently working a new entry in the Call of Duty series.

ORIGINAL STORY CONTINUES: In February 2020, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said mobile was the publisher’s “largest” platform and that the company was working on mobile games based on all its top franchises.

A job advert for an executive producer of features on “a new AAA mobile FPS in the Call of Duty franchise” was spotted in September 2020 before being taken offline. It included multiple references to Warzone Mobile, suggesting Activision was planning to bring the battle royale hit to new platforms.
