A permanent Switch price cut is imminent, another source claims
UPDATE: New price is now appearing at European retailers
Another source has claimed that Nintendo will discount its standard Switch hardware in Europe this week.
Gamereactor Spain reports that it’s been able to confirm that the Nintendo Switch price cut will take place on Monday, September 13, corroborating earlier claims made by reliable retail tipster @NintendAlerts.
According to the publication, the 2019 Switch model will be permanently discounted to less than 300 Euros in Spain.
UPDATE: The Nintendo Switch price cut is now rolling out in Europe.
The new price adopted by retailers appears to be €269.99 (down from €329.99) in Europe and £259.99 (down from £279.99) in the UK.

ORIGINAL STORY CONTINUES: Previously, @NintendAlerts had claimed that the standard Switch would be sold for €270 from Monday. Currently, Switch is sold for around €330 in Europe.
One independent retailer VGC spoke to said they’d also seen evidence to suggest a discount would be implemented in the UK this week.
Nintendo does not set an official RRP in Europe, but it could be that it’s lowered its distribution price in order to stimulate sales ahead of the launch of the OLED model in October.
VGC has asked Nintendo UK for comment and will update this story with its response.
Nintendo Switch at retail
Nintendo recently reported that shipments for the entire Switch family of systems had fallen 21.7% year-on-year.
While sales of the flagship Switch are actually up year-on-year, Switch Lite sales have declined compared 2020 when Nintendo had “relatively plentiful inventories for Europe and North America and unit sales were high”.
Switch launched in March 2017, Switch Lite released in September 2019, and a new Nintendo Switch model with an OLED display will launch on October 8, 2021.
