A fix for Watch Dogs Legion corrupted save files is in the works

Ubisoft is working on a fix for problems players are experiencing with corrupted Watch Dogs Legion save files.

According to various reports, saving the game successfully can take an unusually long time, to the point where it appears it’s hanging, leading some players to use alt-F4 to force close it, resulting in save corruption.

“We’re aware some players are having difficulties and we’re looking to address these issues in an upcoming patch by November 9,” Ubisoft told PC Gamer. “We’ll have more information on the contents of the patch in the coming days.”

In the meantime, Redditor Natanaeltedja has shared a workaround for freezing when quitting to the main menu, although we’ve not been able to verify if it works.

Earlier this week it was claimed that the source code for Watch Dogs Legion has been leaked online by a hacker group.

In October, ransomware gang Egregor leaked data it claimed to have obtained from the internal networks of both Ubisoft and Crytek, and threatened to release Watch Dogs Legion’s source code unless the French publisher engaged in discussions with it.

Watch Dogs Legion released on October 29. VGC’s review labelled it Ubisoft’s “most unique open-world game in years”.
