A demo for Nintendo’s avatar-themed RPG Miitopia is now available
Ahead of the game’s Switch release on May 21
Nintendo has released a demo for its avatar-themed RPG Miitopia.
Announced in February and set for release on May 21, the Switch title is a customisable adventure game in which players cast their Mii characters in a role-playing quest to bring down a face-stealing Dark Lord.
The newly launched Nintendo eShop demo includes the game’s first area, where players can create and customise their Mii characters with wigs and makeup.
Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will also be able to share and receive Mii characters with friends, and download popular Mii characters from the original version of Miitopia, which was released for Nintendo 3DS in 2017.
In the 3DS version, players’ Mii characters would develop relationships during gameplay which would later affect combat based on their closeness.
“Pair up your Mii characters at inns to build their relationships for some personality-packed interactions,” Nintendo says. “Characters may also learn skills like ‘lend a hand’ and help each other out during scuffles. Bring your friends into battle for side-splitting fun in this comedy-filled quest!”
Players will be able to transfer save data from the Miitopia demo to the full game if they choose to purchase it for a suggested retail price of $49.99 / £39.99.
Nintendo will also launch a blue version of the Switch Lite console in May. The new blue design will hit Europe on May 7, and North America on May 21, coinciding with the release of Miitopia.
