All Hogwarts Legacy Merlin Trials and how to solve them
We’ve located every Merlin Trial in every region, so you’ll soon have the largest inventory possible
In Hogwarts Legacy, Merlin Trials are one of the many challenges scattered across the map.
There are 95 Merlin Trials in total, 94 of which you’ll have to seek out. You’ll complete your first Merlin Trial early in the game, but following this, you’ll have to travel to every corner of the Hogwarts Legacy map to find them.
Thankfully, we’ve located every Merlin Trial in every region for you below, so you’ll soon have the largest inventory possible, which is the main reward for completing the Merlin Trials, other than the Achievement/ Trophy; Merlin’s Beard.
In order to unlock the first Merlin Trial, you’ll need to complete the Trials of Merlin quest.
You can start the quest by speaking to a witch named Nora Treadwell, who appears after you meet Natty in the story near Lower Hogsfield.
Nora will explain the basic concept to you, after which its up to the player to find and solve the different kinds of Merlin Trial challenges in the game world.

How to solve Merlin Trials in Hogwarts Legacy
North Ford Bog Merlin Trials
There are 4 Merlin Trials in the North Ford Bog
North Ford Bog
Near the North Ford Bog Floo, this Merlin Trial requires you to use Confringo on each of the 5 blocks, a few of which are behind vines.
Pitt-Upon-Ford
Near Pitt-Upon-Ford, this Merlin Trial requires you to jump on each of the stone blocks without touching the ground, in order to cover them in Vines.
San Bakar Tower
In a graveyard near San Bakar’s tower, you’ll need to use Flippendo to make the icons on the top blocks match with the bottom ones.
East North Ford Bog
In this Merlin Trial, use Wingardium Leviosa to move the huge ball into the cup, which is covered in vines.
Forbidden Forest Merlin Trials
There are 3 Merlin Trials in Forbidden Forest
North Ford Bog Entrance
Ignore the title of this, despite being next to the North Ford Bog Entrance Floo, it counts as Forbidden Forrest. For this one, jump on all of the stone blocks without touching the ground.
West Forbidden Forest
For this Merlin trial, you need to use Lumos to lead three sets of butterflys into the three totems. One group is behind vines, another is behind rocks.
Jackdaw’s Tomb
For this Merlin trial, set the three bowls on fire with Confringo.
North Hogwarts Region Merlin Trials
There are 5 Merlin Trials in North Hogwarts Region
Korrow Ruins
For this Merlin trial, set the three bowls on fire with Confringo, one is in a tower behind vines.
Korrow Ruins 2
Further right, this Merlin Trial requires you to repair 4 statues.
South of Jackdaw’s Tomb
For this trial, you’ll need to use Flippendo to make the icons on the top blocks match with the bottom ones.
South of The Collector’s Cave
For this Merlin trial, use Lumos to lead the blue butterfly into the small totems.
Forbidden Forest Floo
For this trial, destroy all the balls with the basic cast.
Hogsmeade Valley Merlin Trials
There are 6 Merlin Trials in Hogsmeade Valley
Upper Hogsfield
For this Merlin trial, destroy the large rocks with Confringo.
East Hogsmeade Valley
In this Merlin Trial, you’re going to need to light the three cauldrons on fire with Confringo.
Falbarton Castle
Use Lumos to attract three sets of butterflies and shove them in the totems.
Falbarton Castle, again
For this Merlin trial, roll the big boulder down the hill.
East of Hogsmeade
For this Merlin trial, attract three sets of butterflies using Lumos and put them in the totems.
South Hogwarts Region Merlin Trials
There are 15 Merlin Trials in the South Hogwarts Region.

South of Central Hogwarts Valley
There are three cauldrons near the river, light them all on fire with Confringo.
Brocburrow
Use Depulso to send the huge boulder into the cup. You’ll need to unlock the boulder is Bombarda.
West of Brocburrow
Use Lumos to attract three sets of butterflies and shove them in the totems.
East of Brocburrow
You need to touch all of the stone blocks without touching the ground. You can do this on the broom.
West Hogwarts Valley (hills)
Use Wingardium Leviosa to move the three sets of five balls onto the three plinths.

West Hogwarts Valley floo
In the back of the bandit camp, destroy five totems with Confringo.

Near an Ashwinder tent, flip the logos on three totems so that they match up.
North Feldcroft Floo
Land on all of the pillars without touching the ground.
West of North Feldcroft Floo
Use Confringo to destroy the large pillars, one of which is behind some vines.
North of Rookwood Castle
Destroy nine rock balls using basic cast.

Light the three braziers on fire.

Use the broom to bounce off all of the stone pillars in the water.

Light the braziers on fire before they descend into the water pits.

Near the Thestral den, use Flippendo to flip the symbol blocks so they match on the top and bottom.
Manor Cape Merlin Trials
There are 5 Merlin Trials in the Manor Cape

Use Flippendo to flip the symbol blocks so they match on the top and bottom.
West Manor Cape
Light the braziers on fire before the descend into the water pits.

Using Wingardium Leviosa, lead the large boulder up the hill and dunk it in the cup.
