All FFXIV Dawntrail Urqopacha Aether Currents locations
Gain your wings in Urqopacha with this Aether Current map
To fly your favourite mounts around the home of the Pelupelu, you’ll need to head to the Final Fantasy XIV Urqopacha Aether Current locations.
When you’re hard at work following the main storyline, it can be difficult to keep checking that aether compass for new pings. Besides, you’ll need to finish up the storyline here before the sidequests for the rest even appear. Once you’re ready to unlock flying in Urqopacha, use the map below to tick them off.

Urqopacha Aether Currents quests
You’ll need to complete the following quests to get the remaining Aether Currents in Urqopacha:
- A Crisis of Corruption | Side-quest
- A Traveler to the Rescue | Side-quest
- The Glame Burns No More | Side-quest
- An Illumination Ritual | Side-quest
- The Feat of Ice | MSQ
You won’t have to think too much about when to pick these up. Each set unlocks as you complete the main scenario quest chain that starts in that half of the map.
What are Aether Currents?
Aether Currents are collectibles you’ll find in each major zone from Heavensward onward. You need to collect them all to unlock the ability to fly mounts in that specific zone.
Aether Currents come from three different sources: the field, main quests, and side-quests. In most cases, you’ll need to clear the main quests in that zone to either unlock the side-quests containing the remaining aether currents, or to get the final aether current itself.
It’s largely believed that the aether current system is in place to slow down the potential rapid consumption of expansion content. The main quests guide you along a specific path through a zone, encouraging you to take in the sights and sounds of each new location—aspects you might otherwise skip over due to the conveniences of flight.
