How to get a free Fantasia in FFXIV 7.0 for the Dawntrail graphics update

Change up your character with a free Fantasia in Final Fantasy XIV after the 7.0 Dawntrail update without logging into the dreaded online store.

Not feeling the latest graphical changes that came with the FFXIV 7.0 update? Regardless of whether you have the Dawntrail expansion or not, you can get a free Fantasia to change your race, gender, or even just the colour of your eyes if that’s what’s bothering you.

How to get a free Fantasia in FFXIV 7.0

To grab your free character configuration potion, you don’t need to head to the store or check your in-game mailbox. Instead, just log in and head to  Ul’dah – Steps of Thal coordinates X: 13.4 Y: 9.2.

To get there quickly, teleport to Ul’dah and use the Aetheryte to zip to the Adventurer’s Guild. Walk straight through the zone transition to the Steps of Thal area and you’ll see the Medicine Merchant immediately as you zone in. He’s the one to speak to.

Announced as a neat little surprise to help players fix any blemishes that the game’s Dawntrail graphical overhaul brought in, it’s possible to get a free vial of Fantasia as of the 7.0 update.

How to use Fantasia to change your character in FFXIV

To use a Fantasia, consume it from your inventory, remove all your gear (except your weapon), and log out. On the character select screen, right-click the character you used the Fantasia vial on and select the appropriate menu option to edit them.

From there, you can change their gender, race, hairstyle (within reason), and other aspects like skin colour, face shape, voice, and all that good stuff.

Remember, too, that Fantasia changes are no longer final. For up to an hour of actual playtime after activating a Fantasia, you can log out to return to the character configuration screen as much as you want.
