Blood of Dawnwalker: St. Mihai’s silver sword, Forge It Anew quest guide

One of the most powerful weapons in The Blood of Dawnwalker is St. Mihai’s Silver Sword, but getting it is no simple task.

Not only do you have to locate three Silver Sword Shards, but you’ll also need to find the hilt and the one blacksmith in the game capable of reforging such a blade. It’s no small task, but you can do it with this guide.

Although you’re likely to come across the first Silver Sword Shard fairly early in the game, the final stages of the quest aren’t intended to be done early on. It’s not impossible, but expect the road ahead to be fairly difficult if you aren’t adequately prepared. All Silver Sword Shard locations – BoD

The shards or fragments of St. Mihai’s Silver Sword can be located across the world of Vale Sangora, but the first one is the toughest to find. They’re mostly located in caves, though there is one key exception. This won’t be enough to forge the sword alone, as you’ll also need the hilt.

First Silver Sword Shard location

The easiest Silver Sword Shard to find isn’t too far from Laslea, and you could run into it accidentally early on in the game. It’s in a cave in the Maragir Wealds, far East of Mert’s Mill, North of the Upper Maragir Wealds Shrine, in the woods.

When you find the first Silver Sword Fragment cave, you’ll also find a crudely drawn map which will help you to locate the other two pieces of the sword. Check the map markers that appear to roughly locate the caves. Before you leave, make sure to inspect the broken cross to the rear of the room, as the Silver Sword Shard is next to it.

Second Silver Sword Shard location

The second Silver Sword Shard is in another cave; this time it’s located Northwest of Shrike’s Crag, Southwest of Parlita. Coen will recognize the cave from the crudely drawn map. There are corpses outside of the cave, and you’ll need to crouch down before entering the small entrance.

Inside, you’ll have to fight Munch-Munch, a tough miniboss that’s far more fearsome than the smaller monsters you’ve fought thus far. Once it’s down, you’ll find the second Silver Sword Shard in a nest to the rear of the room.

Third Silver Sword Shard location

The third Silver Sword Shard is a bit tougher to find. First you’ll need to locate the cave as before, which is to the Southeast of the Crossroads Inn where you meet Anca after leaving Laslea.

This time the cave has already been ransacked by soldiers bearing Xanthe’s colors, and the Silver Sword Shard is gone.

This will lead you to one of Xanthe’s soldier encampments, located South of Tantari, close to the Drunken Bear Inn. If this is your first time taking on Xanthe’s soldiers, you might find them a fair bit stronger than earlier foes, so be warned.

You’ll need to clear the camp out and rummage through the tent they’ve set up to find the Silver Sword Shard they took from the cave. It’s on top of a barrel to the right as you enter the tent.

St. Mihai’s Silver Sword Hilt location – BoD

The hilt is actually an item called the Broken Sword of St. Mihai, and it’s a reward for completing the A Monk and a Saint quest in Svartrau. It’s a pretty lengthy and involved quest alone, but it’ll ultimately lead you to infiltrate the crypt of the Svartrau cathedral and uncover what remains of St. Mihai. It’s a gruesome quest, and one you’ll want to see for yourself when you reach Svartrau.

How to reforge St. Mihai’s Silver Sword – BoD

The only blacksmith in Vale Sangora capable of reforging St. Mihai’s silver sword is the Uriashi hermit at the Uriashi Hermitage, obviously. It’s located far Northwest of Mert’s Mill and the Military Camp, through the woods and at the edge of the map.

Make sure the hermit knows that you intend to kill Brencis, and they’ll happily reforge the sword for you once you’re able to hand over the St. Mihai’s Broken Sword and the three Sword Shards. You’ll be given the Restored Sword of St. Mihai, one of the most powerful weapons in the game. But it’s not over quite yet, not until you temper the blade.

How to temper St. Mihai’s Silver Sword – BoD

It’s not over, and after you receive the Restored Sword of St. Mihai, you’ll be given a new location to track even further Northwest than the Uriashi Hermitage.

You’ll find a cave with several combat challenges that the Restored Sword of St. Mihai can help you with. Once you finally clear out every enemy wave, a short cutscene will play out, completing the silver sword. It now becomes the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai, and there aren’t many weapons in the game that’ll output more raw damage.
