Blood of Dawnwalker: How to kill Brencis’s court of boyars

If you want to have an easy shot of killing Brencis, then you will need to take out his court of boyars first.

Ambrus, Xanthe, and Bakir are the three vampiric boyars of Vale Sangora, and taking them out will make the final fight against Brencis much easier to overcome. There are multiple ways of approaching each of the boyars, but one way is usually much easier than the others.

In this guide, we’re breaking down the easiest ways to find and kill the three court boyars in The Blood of Dawnwalker.

How to kill Ambrus – BoD

Ambrus should be the first of Brencis’ court on your list. You must first anger him by destroying his soldier camps and transports – all marked on the map – and then you’ll encounter a crucifixion happening in the village of Maragir, in the Maragier Wealds. This is on the East side of the world map, Northeast of Svartrau.

Here you’ll find a man being crucified, along with an invitation to a duel. Afterward, you’ll be approached by a woman representing Iulian Codrin. Iulian is a vassal of Ambrus and wants to speak with you. As you might guess, Iulian is no fan of Ambrus, and he’ll help you poison the man to make your duel easier. This will begin The Gilded Gauntlet quest.

Help Iulian, and you’ll be able to poison Ambrus, making your duel with him much easier to overcome.

How to kill Xanthe – BoD

There are actually two methods you can use to take down Xanthe, and one can be done early in the game with very little pushback.

Xanthe can be found in the Svartrau Cathedral at night. The doors are tightly locked, but you can enter through the roof with the Shadowstep technique. Inside, you’ll be able to find Xanthe performing a mysterious ritual, and you can kill her before she can cause any more harm.

Alternatively, angering Xanthe by taking out her soldier camps and transports will see you approached by a pair of her soldiers. They’ll give you a Xanthe Lantern in return for investigating the disappearances of missing girls and young women. That will lead you to Xanthe’s Mansion, which you can solve with our lantern puzzle guide. Fully investigate the mansion, and you’ll find Xanthe, in addition to revealing information about her character.

How to kill Bakir – BoD

Like with Ambrus, someone very close to Bakir will want him killed: his jester, Farkas. Wiping out Bakir’s soldier camps and transports will have Farkas approach you, and he’ll ask that you compete in a tournament held by Bakir. Win it, and you’ll have a chance of killing him alone.
