Blood of Dawnwalker: Escape the dream in Home Sweet Home, or stay for a secret ending

There’s one tower in Blood of Dawnwalker that is being inhabited by dodgy individuals, and it’ll trap you inside a dream, taking you back to the start of the game.

Annoyingly, all of the enemies in the dream are scaled to your current level, but you don’t get to take your gear into the dream with you, meaning each fight will take way longer than it should.

This dream, part of the Home Sweet Home quest, has two distinct endings. One allows you to exit the dream and continue the game, while the other will have you stay in the dream permanently, where you’ll unlock a secret ending and the Together Forever trophy and achievement.

How to escape the dream in Home Sweet Home – BoD

The dream will loop if you do exactly what is intended of you, and that’s a problem. Mainly because, as mentioned above, those enemies will have a lot more health than they really should.

Fighting your way through the quest and getting to the church will have the dream start over again. You’ll have brief flashes of the well in the village. When you locate your younger siblings in the village, cowering before enemies appear, there will also be a well nearby. If you want to escape the dream, simply investigate the well after the combat encounter.

The game really doesn’t want you to get stuck, so eventually a voice in Coen’s head will even repeatedly mention the well. Interact with the well, and you’ll be sent on the path out after interacting with Coen’s monstrous side, but Coen must also reconcile with his past guilt.

How to stay in the dream in Home Sweet Home – BoD

If you would prefer to pick up the Together Forever trophy and achievement before finishing this quest, you should stay in the dream.

All you need to do for this is avoid interacting with the well. Instead, simply repeat the dream five full times. At the beginning of the fifth loop, talking to your mother, Esme, will actually end the game, roll the credits, and give you the Together Forever trophy and achievement. Worth it? Maybe.
