
Super Mario is a video game franchise created and owned by Nintendo.
The franchise’s core platforming genre, created by designer Shigeru Miyamoto, started with 1985’s Super Mario Bros. and continues to be a flagship series for Nintendo.
Mario and the series’ cast of characters including Luigi, Peach and Yoshi often appear in multiple genres of games from many different partner developers.
The franchise’s biggest spin-offs include Mario Kart, Mario Party, Mario Maker and Luigi’s Mansion.
