Saros is a single-player action game developed by Housemarque and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The spiritual follow-up to Returnal is again a third-person shooter that melds bullet hell games with modern roguelites. However, this time, players will be given far more options to upgrade their suit and their weaponry, offering a sense of permanent progression.
The game stars Rahul Kohli as Arjun Devraj, and will also see the return of Jane Perry, who played Seline in Returnal, as they explore a hostile planet.
PlayStation says it is a “fast-paced, cinematic action game with exhilarating moment-to-moment gameplay, climactic boss fights and a mysterious and moving story – the hallmarks of industry veterans, Housemarque.”
Key Features
- Come back stronger: The ‘Second Chance’ feature means you’ll be revived instantly on your first death, helping you get straight back into the action. Choose between an evolving set of weapons and upgrades to overcome the challenges you face on Carcosa.
- Bullet ballet, evolved: Unleash a high-tech arsenal whilst facing enemy attacks. Combine abilities and look out for attack patterns of enemies to gain the upper hand.
- Constantly evolving: After every run you’ll face a changed world. The corrupting influence of the Eclipse touches every crevice of this shapeshifting world, revealing new paths through each biome and awakening a madness within everyone and everything.
- Build your strength: Return to the Passage between runs to track your progression and meet an ensemble cast of characters. As your crew from Echelon IV begin to succumb to the madness brought on by the Eclipse, you’ll start to question who can still be trusted among the people you once relied on.
- Otherworldly sound design: Rich details of Carcosa and its inhabitants come to life with atmospheric, sci-fi-inspired 3D audio soundscapes, punctuated by a dark electronic musical score from two-time Grammy Award-winning composer Sam Slater.
- Power in your hands: Feel the corrupting experience of Carcosa through the DualSense wireless controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, as Arjun’s memories, suit and weaponry evolve with the powerful corruption effects of the Eclipse.
