Pokémon Pokopia

Pokémon Pokopia is a Nintendo Switch 2 life simulation game developed by Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force and Game Freak.

The game sees players play as a humanoid Ditto, shaping an empty land into a home for a variety of Pokémon. Players can collect a range of items, build furniture, grow vegetables, and create homes for Pokémon. The player can also learn moves from the Pokémon they meet, helping to create habitats where different Pokémon will appear.

“Pokémon may come to the player with requests for making their environment a more comfortable place to live,” The Pokémon Company said. “Some will even have important requests tied to solving larger problems. Fulfilling these requests will lead to the development of the entire area.”

But this is no random region created for Pokopia. It quickly transpires that you’re in the ruins of Kanto, the setting of Pokémon’s original adventure.

Pokopia also includes some never-before-seen Pokémon types, including Peakychu, a pale Pikachu with drooping ears, Mosslax, a Snorlax with moss over his body, and Smearguru, a Smeargle with vibrant colours splattered across its body.

Key Features

  • Shape the world and build a new life with Pokémon: Play as a Ditto that has transformed to look like a human! Locate and befriend your fellow Pokémon, then carve out a life for yourself. Build a town for everyone to live in and learn the moves of your fellow Pokémon to change the land, such as Bulbasaur’s Leafage to make the wild grass grow. You can also use abilities to transform and navigate the world around you, such as crossing water with Lapras’s Surf.
  • Create habitats and cultivate crops: Gather materials to create items and furniture. Utilise the fields to grow delicious crops and create habitats for the Pokémon you meet.
  • Take photos: Capture the fun moments.
  • Real-time day and nights: a real-time day and night cycle, and varying weather.
  • Unlock terraforming abilities: As your world continues to grow, and you meet more Pokémon, you will be able to access new areas, build new items, and grow your Pokedex. For example, helping a Scyther will allow you to cut down trees and bushes in one fell swoop, opening up new routes whilst Hitmonchan teaches you Rock Punch, further expanding your ability to clear debris and shape the environment.
