Rockstar Games

Rockstar Games is an American video games publisher established in 1998 as a Take-Two Interactive subsidiary.

Gary Foreman, Jamie King, Terry Donovan, and Dan and Sam Houser were Take-Two employees who founded the company.

Historically, Rockstar has mainly published action-adventure and racing games. Popular published franchises include Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead, Midnight Club, and Max Payne.

Grand Theft Auto is by far the company’s largest franchise. Grand Theft Auto V sold over 220 million copies, taking it to second place as the best-selling video game of all time.

In 2014, Rockstar Games was awarded a BAFTA Fellowship award for “Creating intricately layered interactive worlds that have kept the company at the forefront of the gaming industry.”

Outside the headquarters in New York, it operates subsidiary studios worldwide that often collaborate and are credited as Rockstar Studios.
