
Square Enix
Square Enix is a Japanese game developer and publisher based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, and is best known for role-playing game franchises including Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts.
As well as publishing games, the company also produces arcade facilities, merchandise, and manga under its Gangan Comics brand.
It was formed when Square and Enix merged in 2003. Former president of Square, Yoshi Wada, became president, and Keiji Honda, from Enix, became vice president of the company.
Branches of Square Enix are found in Beijing, Hamburg, London, Los Angeles and Paris.
It is best known for releasing RPG franchises including Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts. Final Fantasy has sold over 173 million copies, Dragon Quest 85 million and Kingdom Hearts has sold 36 million copies.
Square Enix acquired Taito, a games developer and publisher known for arcade games, in 2005. Square Enix also acquired Eidos in 2009.
