Housemarque

Housemarque is a Finnish developer and publisher best known for creating arcade coin-op inspired games including Resogun and Super Stardust.

The studio was founded in 1995 by Ilari Kuittinen and Harri Tikkanen, following a merger of two companies, Bloodhouse and Terramarque. Before merging, Bloodhouse released Stardust, and Terramarque released Elfmania. They were both focused on developing games for the PC and continued to do so after merging.

The first games to be developed by the new company were Super Stardust, Alien Incident, and The Reap.

In 2021, Housemarque released Returnal for the PlayStation 5. The close collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment led to Sony acquiring Housemarque and the company becoming part of PlayStation Studios. The company’s most recently released game was Saros on PlayStation 5.
