Creative Assembly

Creative Assembly is a British game developer based in Horsham. Known for the Total War and Alien game series.

The company was founded in 1987 by Tim Ansell. Sega acquired Creative Assembly in March 2005, and the company became part of Sega Europe.

The company’s first titles included Geoff Crammond’s Stunt Car Racer and Shadow of the Beast by Psygnosis. In 1993, Creative Assembly started working with Electronic Arts, producing games with the EA Sports label, including the early FIFA games. 

Shogun: Total War was released in 2000 and won multiple game awards. The composer Jeff van Dyck won a BAFTA and an EMMA award for his work on the soundtrack.

The franchise has since released: Rome: Total War; Medieval II: Total War; Empire: Total War; Total War: Shogun 2; Total War: Rome II; Total War: Warhammer; Total War: Warhammer II; Total War: Arena; Total War: Three Kingdoms and Total War: Warhammer III, as well as others.
