
Sega
Sega is a Japanese game developer and publisher headquartered in Tokyo. Sega is known for a multitude of franchises including Sonic, Yakuza, Football Manager, Total War and Alien game series.
The company was founded in 1960 by Martin Bromley and Richard Stewart as Nihon Goraku Bassan.
In 1965, the company changed its name to Sega Enterprises Ltd after it acquired Rosen Enterprises, which imported coin-operated games. Periscope was the first coin-operated game Sega developed in 1966.
In 1988, Sega produced the Mega Drive, known as the Genesis in North America. It also manufactured Dreamcast and Saturn, although in 2001, it became a third-party developer and publisher and was acquired by Sammy Corporation.
Sega has produced more than 500 games, 70 franchises, and 20 arcade system boards since 1981.
SEGA has international headquarters in California, Irvine and London. The company also has development studios across the UK and Europe: Creative Assembly, Sports Interactive, Sega Hardlight, Two Point Studios, and Rovio Entertainment.
