Playrix
Playrix is an Irish mobile games developer also known as Playrix Holding Ltd, Playrix Entertainment, and Playrix Games.
The company was founded in 2004 by Dmitry and Igor Bukhman and is known for developing free-to-play mobile games such as Township, Fishdom, Homescapes, and Gardenscapes.
In 2012, Playrix launched its first Facebook game, Township, which was one of the top 50 grossing games on Facebook. This game was later released on iOS and Android. Over 7 years, it generated over 250 million downloads.
Playrix acquired a 43% stake in Nexters in 2018, one of Europe’s biggest video game developers. The company also invested in Vizor Games, Zagrava Games, and Eipix Entertainment in 2019.
The company continued to grow after acquiring Plexonic and Cateia Games in 2020. Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Playrix closed its Russian offices and withdrew from the Russian and Belarusian markets.
In 2023, Playrix was the third biggest mobile game developer in the world for revenue, and in 2021, it was valued at $8 billion.
